SHANGHAI: On Sunday, September 15, all flights were cancelled at Shanghai’s two main airports as the Chinese megacity prepared for a powerful typhoon that would bring strong winds and heavy rain.
According to Beijing’s emergency management ministry, Typhoon Bebinca is predicted to land between Sunday night and Monday morning along a portion of China’s heavily populated eastern seaboard.
According to state broadcaster CCTV, all flights at Shanghai’s two main airports will be cancelled starting at 8 p.m. local time on Sunday due to the storm.
According to CCTV, Typhoon Bebinca has reduced the traffic capacity at Shanghai’s Hongqiao and Pudong airports today. In line with the typhoon’s effects, the public will be informed of any flight changes at the two major airports as soon as possible’, it stated.
Four Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights to and from Shanghai Pudong Airport on Sunday and Monday have been cancelled due to weather caused by the storm, the airline said in an advisory published on its website.
