Beppe de Vito is a seasoned restaurateur with nearly 40 years of experience, 29 of which he spent in Singapore. His 2006-founded il Lido network of restaurants currently consists of four locations: Sospiri (more on that later), Amo, Southbridge (a rooftop oyster bar along Boat Quay), and the soon-to-open Baia, a rooftop cocktail bar and lounge at the Esplanade Mall with a Mediterranean theme.
Additionally, he co-owns l’WA Group, a partnership with chef Daniele Sperindio. Both the one-Michelin-starred Art di Daniele Sperindio and the Tuscan-style contemporary steakhouse Gemma are operated by them together and are located in the National Gallery Singapore. Additionally, the leases on both of these will end in November. While Gemma’s future is uncertain, Art will probably reappear somewhere. However, for the time being.
Though de Vito is a major player in Singapore’s food and beverage industry, particularly with regards to Italian-inspired concepts, he declines to be referred to as prominent. “I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I’ve had an impact on the Italian restaurant industry,” he stated. “I’ve always made it my goal to uphold the highest standards possible. I was raised in a five-star hotel, and I moved to Singapore to launch a globally recognised chain of Italian eateries.
