Over the next six years, Changi Airport will gradually raise its fees for travelers and arriving aircraft. By April 2030, the fees that travelers must pay while leaving Changi Airport will increase from the present S$46.40 to S$58.40 (US$35 to US$44).
In addition, starting in April of next year, airlines will be required to pay higher landing, parking, and aerobridge fees; but, for the first six months, they will receive a 50% refund.
On Thursday (Nov 7), Changi Airport Group and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced that the action will help offset S$3 billion in airport infrastructure upgrades. Among these improvements are the renovation of Terminal 3 and the installation of new Skytrain vehicles. Higher running costs, such as those for energy and labor, will also be accommodated.
“Wages for airport employees have risen in recent years and are anticipated to rise further in accordance with national initiatives like the progressive wage model,” the airport said CAAS in a press release.
