Indonesia’s NUSANTARA: Madam Anisah decided to relocate her family to Nusantara, Indonesia’s proposed new capital, after learning that traditional market companies there were prospering and that doing so would help them.
To operate a little grocery store, the mother of seven packed up the family house and moved her kids over 450 kilometres from Banjar regency in South Kalimantan to the Sepaku district in East Kalimantan.
The 50-year-old told CNA that she currently sells food for around 10 million rupiah (US$654) a day two years ago.
She claimed that compared to her prior earnings of less than 5 million rupiah per day when she was back in Banjar, this represented a substantial rise.
Her family’s standard of living increased after Mdm Anisah relocated to Nusantara, and she believes the megaproject would continue under the new administration of President Prabowo Subianto. During his ten years in government, Jokowi, the outgoing president, has mostly concentrated on constructing infrastructural projects around the archipelago. However, he also advocated for Indonesian raw minerals to be processed domestically until they were ready-to-use goods.
