KLANG: After entering a guilty plea to the charge of physically abusing three children entrusted to his care, a religious school instructor connected to the Muslim company Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) was sentenced to ten years in prison on Thursday, September 26.
The Malay Mail stated that Muhammad Barur Rahim Hisam appeared before the Klang Sessions Court in July 2024 and admitted to perpetrating the charges at the Al-Mahabbah Welfare and Education Organisation in Bukit Raja, Klang Utara.
The 23-year-old is a teacher at the Miftahul Hikmah Integrated Islamic Primary School, according to the news portal.
Barur entered a guilty plea to four offences, according to The Vibes. These accusations included kneeing one youngster in the chest and caning three boys.
Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a maximum penalty of RM50,000 (US$12,000) in fines or up to 20 years in jail, or both, applies to the four counts.
According to the New Straits Times (NST), Barur was sentenced to two years in prison for the first and second accusations and three years for the third and fourth offences.
