SINGAPORE: In a letter to their Indian counterparts, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong congratulated the nation on its 76th Republic Day on Sunday, January 26. According to Mr. Tharman’s letter to President Droupadi Murmu of India, Singapore-Indian relations have expanded “in depth and breadth over the years.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024, the two countries established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, putting them on a new course,” he stated. During my state visit earlier this month, when Singapore and India celebrated 60 years of diplomatic ties, I really appreciate your kind hospitality.”
The expansion of India’s semiconductor ecosystem, new generation industrial parks, connectivity, renewable energy, and sustainability programs are among the “forward-looking areas” that the governments and businesses of both nations are focussing on, he continued.
India has seen incredible change, improving the lives of hundreds of millions of people, especially the impoverished in rural areas, and fostering the growth of the middle class. It is on course to meet its ambitious social and economic goals for the future,” Mr. Tharman stated.
