SINGAPORE: The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said on Friday, October 11, that Mr. Lee Hsien Yang and his spouse, Mrs. Lee Suet Fern, are free to return to Singapore.
There are no obstacles to Mr. and Mrs. Lee’s return to Singapore, even though they fled in 2022 after choosing not to show up for a planned police interrogation.
In response to enquiries from the media, the police affirm that Mr. Lee Hsien Yang and Mrs. Lee Suet Fern are free to return to Singapore without any legal restrictions. In a statement, SPF stated that they are and have always been free to return to Singapore.
“In June 2022, the police requested that Mr. Lee and Mrs. Lee attend an interview in order to help with their investigations. After first agreeing, they ultimately failed to show up for the planned interview, departed Singapore on June 15, 2022, and haven’t been back since.”
The police stated in a March 2023 clarifying statement that they had requested that Mr. and Mrs. Lee attend the interview due to possible charges of providing false testimony in court proceedings involving Mr.Lee Kuan Yew’s will.
