SELANGOR: The suspect in Saturday’s (February 8) shooting at a shopping mall in Setia Alam, Selangor, has been named by Malaysian authorities as a 30-year-old local man with 11 past criminal records. Hussein Omar Khan, the head of Selangor police, stated in a statement issued on Sunday, which was also reported by Malaysian media, that a fierce manhunt is currently being done.
We’re currently trying to find him. Investigations into the attack’s motivation are ongoing,” he continued. in 10.50 p.m. on Saturday, police were initially notified of an incident in the Setia City Mall.
According to Selangor police, the suspect entered the shopping mall and shot a cleaner four times, wounding him in the legs and buttocks before fleeing to a different floor and firing more shots. They said that a sliding door and a glass stairway window were broken by gunfire. The suspect then tried to escape by going into the parking lot.
The suspect called down a mall visitor, but he continued to drive. The victim has already reported the incident to the police, Hussein added, adding that the culprit then fired a shot that struck the vehicle. According to Hussein, the suspect then moved his focus to a Perodua Ativa, which came to a stop, and threatened the driver with a revolver.
