SINGAPORE: On Tuesday, June 18, Singapore and Cambodia inked a contract to maintain their collaboration in digital governance.
At the Istana, Singapore Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information Janil Puthucheary and Cambodian Minister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his Cambodian counterpart, Hun Manet attended the ceremony.
As the prime minister of Cambodia, Dr. Hun Manet is making his first official trip to Singapore. Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) released a statement after he visited President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and was given a formal welcome at the Istana on Tuesday afternoon.
As both nations prepare to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations established next year, Mr. Tharman and Dr. Hun Manet “reaffirmed the warm and longstanding ties between Singapore and Cambodia
The prime ministers welcomed the growing economic relationship between Singapore and Cambodia. According to MFA, the two leaders discussed strengthening their collaboration in cutting-edge areas like carbon credits and renewable energy.
They applauded the formation of the working group on cross-border electricity trading between Laos, Cambodia, and Singapore, whose goal is to “catalyze the development of projects to drive the ASEAN Power Grid.
