SINGAPORE: An East-West Line service disruption that began on Wednesday morning continued on Thursday, September 26, when no trains ran between Jurong East and Buona Vista MRT stations.
On Friday, officials had planned to partially resume operations with the introduction of a single-line train shuttle service that will run every 20 minutes between the two stations.
However, there will be no train service between Jurong East and Buona Vista MRT stations on Friday, according to a joint press release from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and rail operator SMRT on Thursday night. They also stated that on Monday, SMRT plans to resume full service. LTA had earlier stated that full services should be back up in “a few days”.
“It is currently difficult to say exactly when, because of the extensive work and unpredictable weather,” stated LTA. “There isn’t enough workspace, even when we add additional employees to the site. Additionally, we must guarantee the security of our employees and commuters.”
