SINGAPORE: Train services on the Circle Line have fully resumed following a power outage on Tuesday, September 17, that nearly two hours earlier disrupted the evening peak hour travel of many commuters.
A “momentary power fault” reportedly occurred at 5:50 p.m., causing disruptions to train services in both directions, according to SMRT. It further stated that the issue was fixed in fifteen minutes.
There was no air conditioning on the stalled trains for fifteen minutes. It might not have been as bright because the ventilation fans and a few lights run on batteries, the statement read.
“Our engineers restored the network’s power. Nonetheless, trains must be safely reset in certain network segments. All trains were restored to service at 7:10 p.m., and train operations are gradually continuing again.”
Free regular bus services were initiated, and commuters were advised to continue their journeys using other lines and modes of transportation. Also, SMRT suggested that commuters increase their travel time by thirty minutes.
It reported that train services had “fully resumed to normal” at approximately 7.40 p.m. and that free regular buses had been discontinued at all Circle Line Stations.
