According to Khaleej Times, specialists have cautioned that being stopped in traffic can hurt one’s physical and mental well-being. Some workers have left their positions to create their own enterprises or pursue employment closer to their homes, but most workers accept the hours spent in their cars as a necessary part of their daily routine.
The extreme stress of her daily journey recently forced Sarah Sultan, a former employee in the education sector, to decide to leave her job. The London-born UAE citizen resides with her three kids: a 2-year-old boy, a 5-year-old daughter, and an 8-year-old daughter. Supporting exceptional educational needs was a major focus of Sarah’s work in education. She started having knee pain in November as a result of spending so much time in one position during her commute, in addition to the psychological effects of being away from home for 13 hours every day. “I was going out every day for thirteen hours,” she says. “I didn’t have much time to manage my studies or spend with my kids.
