SINGAPORE: A man stole the deceased man’s haversack after finding a 22-year-old man lying lifeless at the base of a Housing Board building in a suicide case.
He opened the bag, took out many gadgets, and went through the man’s notes, finding a suicide note among them.
The authorities lost evidence in their death investigation because he threw away the handwritten message and reset the deceased man’s cellphones to factory settings.
For his crimes, 52-year-old Ng Hoe Ghee was sentenced to four months and four weeks in prison on Wednesday, February 7.
With regard to the other counts, he entered a guilty plea to one count of dishonest misappropriation of property and one count of dishonest misappropriation of a deceased person’s property.
The court was informed that on August 12, 2018, at around 1:20 PM, Ng was near a building (the precise address was omitted from court records). It was then that he noticed a man lying at the base of a block.
