SEOUL: In a continuing tit-for-tat balloon war between the two Koreas, Seoul’s military said late on Monday, June 24, that North Korea is sending more balloons into the South that are probably carrying trash.
The balloons were presently floating across the border, according to Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, who claimed that the North “is launching (suspected) trash balloons aimed at the South once again.
The public is cautioned to watch out for falling debris. It further stated, “Do not touch any fallen balloons; instead, report them to the closest military unit or police station.”
In what it claims is retaliation for activists south of the border floating balloons containing anti-regime propaganda into the North, Pyongyang has already launched over a thousand balloons carrying rubbish southward.
Pyongyang promised to retaliate after an activist in the South confirmed on Friday that he had launched additional balloons. On Monday night, Seoul sent a notice to its citizens, stating that “it has been confirmed that a trash balloon from North Korea entered Seoul’s airspace.
