Australia’s CANBERRA: On Thursday, February 29, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos informed the Australian parliament that his nation was on the “frontline” of a fight for regional peace. He pledged his commitment and requested support in his country’s maritime conflicts with China.
Marcos informed Australian MPs that “the Philippines now finds itself on the frontline against actions that undermine regional peace, erode regional stability, and threaten regional success” after Beijing’s warships were spotted in waters off his nation’s coast.
He promised to keep up his vigorous defense of his nation’s sovereignty.
To thunderous cheers, Marcos declared, “I will not allow any foreign power to take even one square inch of our sovereign territory.”
Although the obstacles we encounter are significant, our determination is just as strong. We’re not going to back down.”
Authorities in the Philippines reported this week that they saw Chinese navy ships near Scarborough Shoal, which Beijing had taken control of in 2012.
