The advancement of artificial intelligence also requires infrastructure. As a result, a lot of electricity is needed for processing data and cooling hardware. The International Energy Agency predicted in January that the world’s data centre power consumption could more than double between 2022 and 2026.
In the upcoming years, international technology companies such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Oracle are anticipated to invest billions of dollars in Japan. Large data centres are mostly found in Tokyo and Osaka, but they are also being constructed in other places, including Hokkaido, an island in northern Japan.
