SINGAPORE: This year’s National Day Parade (NDP) at the Padang will mark the debuts of PUB’s water wagons and the new light machine gun of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). The parade this year will honor Singapore’s national defense concept, Total Defence, for 40 years.
The Padang’s inaugural Total Defence segment will demonstrate how the government and community react to a range of scenarios, including air and maritime threats, civil emergencies, and disruptions.
Over 400 people from the Singapore Army, Republic of Singapore Navy, Republic of Singapore Air Force, Digital and Intelligence Service, Singapore Police Force (SPF), and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will be involved, along with 40 assets.
The NDP executive committee announced in a press release on Friday (Jun 21) that the Singapore Red Cross and the National Water Agency PUB will also be included in the segment.
The water wagons from PUB will also be participating in their first National Day Parade. These wagons, which are outfitted with 1,000 liter water tanks, offer assistance when the water supply is interrupted.
The Singapore Red Cross Transporter vehicle, which can transport volunteers and necessary supplies during civil emergency drills, will also be present in this year’s parade.
