SINGAPORE: Maris Stella High School (MSHS) and Woodlands Ring Secondary School (WRSS) will be rebuilt in the coming years to improve facilities, the Ministry of Education (MOE) announced on Monday (May 6).
MSHS will rebuild both its primary and secondary school campuses between 2027 and 2029.
When the primary section moves to the holding site at the former MacPherson Primary School at 2 Mattar Road in 2027, it will become coeducational and admit girls.
The school will also consider increasing its Primary 1 intake in 2027, according to the MOE, who added that the decision to become coed was approved by MSHS Ltd’s board of directors and the Marist Brothers Provincial Council.
According to the ministry, to accommodate this larger intake, MSHS (Primary) will also operate on a partial single-session basis at the holding site while the permanent campus is being rebuilt.
MSHS (Primary) will resume single-session operations once its permanent campus is ready, which is expected in 2030.
MSHS (Secondary) will remain an all-boys school “for the time being,” according to the Ministry of Education.
The secondary school will relocate to the former Bedok North Secondary School at 20 Jalan Damai during the rebuilding process.
According to Google Maps, the primary school’s holding site is 2.7km from its permanent location, while the secondary school’s holding site is approximately 4.6km away.
