The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has mandated product recalls for instant bak kut teh imported from an unauthorized source in Malaysia.
In a statement released on April 12, the agency stated that the two products are the dry and soup varieties of Samy Instant Cooking Bak Kut Teh with Rice, which contain more than 5% pork.
Only recognized sources in nations that have been approved and meet SFA’s criteria for food safety are permitted to import meat and meat products.
The FDA has instructed the importers, Boughtnex and Biscotti Trading, to recall the impacted products as a precaution. All batches of the products are included in the ongoing recall.
According to SFA, all food imports must adhere to its standards.Only licensed importers are permitted to import food, and each shipment needs to be disclosed and have current import permission.
It continued, “Food safety risks to consumers may arise from illegally imported food products originating from unidentified and unapproved sources.”
As mentioned earlier, SFA recommended against consuming the goods for people who purchased them. The agency advised anybody who had done so and became ill to get medical help and customers to contact their point of purchase with any questions.
