SINGAPORE: Mr. Ravi Menon, a former head of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, will be the nation’s first ambassador for climate action.
In addition to representing Singapore at worldwide climate action platforms, he will assume a major role in the nation’s domestic and international climate activities.
To help local stakeholders—particularly the business community—take advantage of possibilities to prosper in a low-carbon future, he will also spearhead public-private partnerships with them, the National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS) announced on Tuesday, May 26.
Additionally, Mr. Menon will hold a senior advisory position at NCCS, a division of the Prime Minister’s Office. As of April 1, both appointments are in force.
The goal stated by Singapore is to attain net-zero emissions by the year 2050.
Purchasing low-carbon technology and promoting adjustments to corporate procedures are two approaches to achieving that aim.
