SINGAPORE: Ong Ye Kung, the health minister, revealed on Tuesday (Feb. 20) that nurses will be eligible for a new retention scheme that may pay out up to S$100,000 every four to six years. This is a component of the Award for Nurses’ Grace, Excellence, and Loyalty (ANGEL), a new retention incentive program that will help over 29,000 nurses in the public health system.
According to Mr. Ong, the program allows nurses to collect up to S$100,000 over 20 years or the current retirement age, which Singapore plans to raise to 65 by 2030.
Awards ranging from S$20,000 to S$30,000 will be given to newly hired nurses and nurses under 46 every four to six years.
According to him, nurses who have worked for at least five years and are 46 years of age or older will be given an instant prize of S$5,000 to S$15,000.
He emphasized that these nurses should be recognized for their many years of service and said that after that, they will be on an accelerated payment path, receiving S$15,000 every three years.
