SINGAPORE: Ms. Goh XY has been looking for a new house for a few months without using a real launch estate agent.
According to Ms. Goh, who is in her 30s, the experience has been “manageable” thus far for both her and her spouse.
We asked around for contacts of real estate agents just in case, and we also sought input from others regarding the benefits and drawbacks,” Ms. Goh stated.
“However, we would consider it if there was a reliable platform to help us save money on (paying the agent’s) commission.”
As of May 13, homeowners or their designated real estate agents can now directly list their apartments for sale on HDB’s web portal.
Although the service has not yet been formally launched, buyers will be able to peruse listings of both new and resale apartments when it is ready, which is anticipated to happen later this month.
According to HDB, the listing service will be free “for the time being.” The service will only be fully accessible to customers who have valid eligibility letters, such as those who have scheduled a viewing appointment. Likewise, only sellers who intend to sell can list their homes on the HDB portal.
