SINGAPORE: On Sunday, June 2, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will speak at the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference in Singapore.
The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), which is in charge of organizing Asia’s premier defense summit, announced on Saturday that Mr. Zelenskyy will take part in the seventh plenary session of the Shangri-La Dialogue, which is entitled “Re-Imagining Solutions for Global Peace and Regional Stability.”To mobilize support for Kyiv as a Russian offensive gains traction, IISS confirmed to CNA on Saturday that Mr. Zelenskyy will be present in person. Reuters reported his whereabouts in Singapore earlier, citing multiple anonymous sources.
The session will be streamed live on the IISS website and YouTube channel in Singapore time starting at 11.30 a.m.
On Saturday night, Mr. Zelenskyy landed in Singapore for the Shangri-La Dialogue. There, he was supposed to meet with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and give a speech to delegates about support for his troubled nation.
Additionally, he plans to invite conference attendees to and support a “peace summit” held in Switzerland from June 15–16.
