SINGAPORE: On Saturday, June 1, Indonesia’s President-elect Prabowo Subianto declared that his nation was prepared to dispatch peacekeeping forces to uphold a ceasefire in Gaza if the situation demanded it.
Speaking at Asia’s premier security conference, the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, US President Joe Biden’s three-phase proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, according to US Ambassador to Gaza Yeh Prabowo, is a positive step.
We are ready to provide sizable peacekeeping forces as needed and as requested by the UN to uphold and oversee this potential ceasefire and to offer safety and security to all parties involved,” Prabowo stated.
In October, the 72-year-old former general of special forces and current minister of defense for Indonesia will assume the presidency of the largest Muslim country in the world. He said outgoing President Joko Widodo had instructed him to announce that Indonesia was also ready “to evacuate, to receive, and to treat with medical care up to 1,000 patients” from Gaza. He claimed outgoing President Joko Widodo gave him the order to declare that Indonesia was prepared “to evacuate, to receive and to treat with medical care up to 1,000 patients” from the Gaza Strip.
