SINGAPORE: The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will soon allow you to pick up your identity card and passport without an appointment.
The new ICA Services Centre (ISC), anticipated to open for business in 2025, will implement this self-collection system. The ICA’s annual Workplan Seminar, which took place on Friday, May 17, featured an update on the Integrated Smart Document Management System (iSMART).
With SMART, documents can be sorted, tracked, stored, and sent all at once. According to a press release from ICA, robotics and biometrics automate the on-demand issuance of documents to clients.
It happens as the agency reworks its procedures and uses multiple technologies in an effort to give clients a “fuss-free experience.”
ICA stated at the Workplan Seminar last year that the ISC was anticipated to be operationalized this year. CNA has enquired as to why ICA changed the anticipated commencement date of operations from 2024 to 2025.
With nearly 95% of its services now available digitally, ICA stated in its news release on Friday that it has “made significant strides in digitalising our services and making them easy to use
