JAKARTA: After he escaped custody last year, one of Thailand’s “most wanted” fugitives was deported by Indonesia on Tuesday, June 4, to face charges of murder and drug offenses in his native country, according to a police official.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by national police official Krishna Murti, he was escorted to the international airport in Jakarta’s capital while being watched over by ten police officers.
Krishna informed AFP over WhatsApp that the fugitive was subsequently sent to Thailand on a “special plane provided by the Thai government.”
According to Thai drug control officials, Chaowalit is wanted on many charges, including drug-related offenses and murder.
According to Indonesian police, Chaowalit traveled from Thailand to the westernmost province of Aceh in December 2023, spending 17 hours on a speed boat. From there, she proceeded to Bali.
He was receiving medical care at a hospital in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat when he made his escape from a 20-year sentence.
